Job Overview

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform empowering millions of businesses worldwide, from global enterprises to ambitious startups, to accept payments, boost revenue, and unlock new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, presenting an unparalleled chance to shape the global economy and undertake the most significant work of your career.

About the Team

The Procurement team is integral to Stripe’s operations, providing essential services that support the company’s backbone. This organization encompasses Third Party Risk, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Deal Management (SDM), Procurement Enablement, Accounts Payable (AP), and Travel & Expenses (T&E). The SDM team, established in 2022, is crucial for facilitating supplier deals. It focuses on creating an efficient supplier contracting process, reducing friction for business leaders, minimizing risk in collaboration with TPRM and Legal, and accelerating the engagement of key suppliers. The SDM’s mission is to drive agreements efficiently through appropriate channels, structure the contracting process, provide a customized user experience, and effectively manage value and risk for Stripe.

The Role: Contracting Operations Specialist

We are seeking a motivated Contracting Operations Specialist to join our expanding team. This role is pivotal in enhancing the user experience by meticulously processing and reviewing supplier contracting requests. The specialist will guide stakeholders through the risk assessment and supplier contracting process, prepare agreements for legal review using Stripe templates, and partner with the business on commercial negotiations. A key aspect of the job is providing a first-line, guided customer service experience for all transactions and closely monitoring productivity and communication using our Zip procurement tool. Ad hoc tasks, including contract lookups, research, and systems reconciliation, will also be part of the responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Legal, Sourcing, Third Party Risk, and Stripe Buyers and Business leaders to efficiently prepare and advance contracts through the third-party engagement lifecycle.
  • Partner with internal teams like Finance, Legal, Security, and Sourcing to enhance collaboration between contracting and other functions, thereby reducing risk and improving process visibility for Stripe.
  • Utilize standardized templates and fallback positions effectively.
  • Manage pre-assigned engagements within our Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system, Agiloft.
  • Oversee the end-to-end contract lifecycle management process.
  • Demonstrate the ability to comprehend commercial and legal language common in commercial contracts, showing strong attention to detail and ease with contractual terminology.
  • Partner with respective business contacts to resolve user inquiries related to contracting and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Analyze existing processes and initiate changes to scale operations and improve user experience.
  • Analyze internal data to drive operational performance and generate reports from Agiloft to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist other Stripe teams with internal and external ad hoc requests.
  • Contribute significantly to building a brand-new team and operational culture within Stripe.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking candidates who meet the minimum requirements for this role. While preferred qualifications are a bonus, meeting the minimum is encouraged for application.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4-5 years of relevant experience in formulating and reviewing end-to-end contract lifecycle management.
  • A degree in Law or a relevant field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively represent Stripe and influence experienced business leaders.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work independently, analyze complex issues, and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to quickly earn trust and deliver value in a critical function involving multiple stakeholders, with the capacity to support opinions with sound reasoning.
  • An operationally focused mindset, emphasizing efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Meticulous attention to detail coupled with a rigorous decision-making process.

  • Self-disciplined, diligent, proactive, and detail-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the fintech industry.
  • Flexibility and comfort with changing requirements.
  • A builder’s mindset, willing to question assumptions and conventional wisdom.
  • A passion for creating new systems and solving problems through infrastructure and automation.

In-Office Expectations

Stripes in most locations are expected to spend approximately 50% of their time in a given month in their local office or collaborating with users. This expectation may vary based on the specific role, team, and location. Some roles, like those in Stripe Delivery Centers (Mexico City, Bengaluru, Dublin), require 100% in-office presence. Certain teams may also have higher in-office attendance requirements to effectively support users and workflows, which will be communicated by the hiring manager. This approach aims to balance the benefits of in-person collaboration and learning with the flexibility that remote work can offer.

Pay and Benefits

Stripe is committed to pay transparency and is working towards providing pay ranges globally. While not yet included in all job postings, the company values open communication regarding compensation.

We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every detail of the job description. Your unique skills and passion are highly valued, especially if your career path has included extraordinary twists and turns. Stripe embraces diverse perspectives and individuals who think rigorously and are not afraid to challenge established norms. Join us in building the future of internet commerce.
