About the Role

Airbnb is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join the Agent Core Products team within the Community Support Engineering (CS Eng) department. This is a unique opportunity to work on the core technology that powers Airbnb’s global community support operations. The products and solutions developed by CS Eng are instrumental in supporting customers, front-line agents, and business process operations teams, playing a key role in enabling Airbnb’s core business. As a Senior Engineer on the Agent Core Products team, you will have a direct impact on the experience of every person who travels or hosts on Airbnb, by enhancing the tools used by our support agents.

The Community You Will Join

The Community Support Engineering (CS Eng) team is dedicated to building world-class technology, architecture, and solutions that underpin Airbnb’s extensive global community support network. This team is crucial for ensuring seamless operations and exceptional service delivery. The Agent Core Products team, specifically, focuses on developing and refining the software that empowers our support agents, directly influencing their efficiency and the quality of service they provide to our guests and hosts. This is a high-impact team focused on driving significant improvements through strategic projects.

The Difference You Will Make

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to shaping the technical vision and delivering robust solutions. You will work within a talented and diverse team of software engineers, collaborating to build innovative products and features that improve the agent experience. Your responsibilities will span the entire development lifecycle, from technical design and development to test automation, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You will be instrumental in ensuring our systems are flexible, efficient, and scalable, meeting the evolving needs of the business. This role offers the chance to influence technical direction, provide critical input on product strategy, and mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

A Typical Day

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineering counterparts to execute product and business strategies, building novel products and features.
• Drive and contribute to the full software development lifecycle: technical design, development, test automation, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Review code and design documents, providing constructive feedback on product specifications and mockups.
• Build efficient, reusable, and high-quality frontend web components, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
• Design and implement robust server-side APIs to support frontend requirements, demonstrating strong architectural judgment regarding the separation of concerns.
• Work closely with Machine Learning and Generative AI Engineers to significantly enhance Community Support systems and agent tools.
• Provide critical input on technical direction through active participation in engineering design discussions.
• Mentor junior developers, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster their growth.

Your Expertise

• Minimum of 6 years of industry experience in software engineering.
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience architecting frontend systems and demonstrating ownership of end-to-end features and cross-team integrations.
• Extensive experience building large-scale web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript/TypeScript libraries and tooling, such as React and GraphQL.
• Fluency in HTML, CSS, and related web technologies.
• Demonstrated excellence in accessibility, performance optimization, and established client-side development practices.
• Strong product mindset with excellent communication skills; comfortable driving cross-organizational integration with partner teams.
• Experience building user interfaces for AI-driven features, including both classical supervised machine learning and Generative AI applications.
• Proficiency in one or more back-end server languages, such as Java or Kotlin.
• Experience and passion for mentoring junior developers.
