Job Overview

About Stripe

Stripe is a global financial infrastructure platform empowering millions of businesses, from startups to large enterprises, to accept payments, boost revenue, and unlock new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, presenting an unparalleled chance to shape the global economy and undertake career-defining work.

About the IAM Team

The Identity & Access Management (IAM) team is the operational core of Stripe. We manage how millions of businesses grant access to their accounts for employees, AI agents, applications, and API integrations across various Stripe interfaces like the Dashboard, API, CLI, and MCP. As a platform team, we are responsible for developing a unified, fine-grained permissions model that serves as the foundation for all products at Stripe. The current era of AI agents is transforming business operations, and we are defining the standards for their authorization, governance, and security. Our work caters to a wide spectrum of users, from individual founders to Fortune 500 companies, and the inherent tension between these user groups fuels our product innovation.

What You Will Do

  • Set Vision and Roadmap: Define and drive the strategic direction for how every principal, human, agent, or app gains access to a Stripe account.
  • User-Centric Design: Engage directly with founders, administrators, and developers to understand their needs and design seamless experiences for granting access across all touchpoints – from initial sign-up and team invitations to API key creation and agent/app authorization.
  • Elevate AI Agents: Establish AI agents as a first-class entity within the access management framework. Define their authentication mechanisms, permissible actions, and implement robust controls, including approval workflows and human-in-the-loop checkpoints for critical operations. Your work will likely set the industry benchmark for agent authorization.
  • Drive Least Privilege: Develop custom roles, intelligent permission defaults, and usage-based recommendations to make the secure choice the easy and obvious one, rather than a burdensome task.
  • Eliminate Secrets: Champion and implement secretless authentication methods, such as Workload Identity Federation, making them the default for developer integrations and mitigating API key leaks as a primary security risk.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Pitch ambitious product visions and build enthusiasm and alignment with teams across Dashboard, API Platform, Security, Payments, and Money Movement, even without direct reporting lines.
  • Iterative Development: Employ an experimental approach, closely monitoring real-world usage, and adapting quickly based on learnings, rather than adhering strictly to a pre-defined, perfect plan.

Who You Are

We seek individuals who meet the minimum qualifications and are eager to tackle complex challenges. The most rewarding aspect of this role is navigating the constant trade-offs between usability and security, and flexibility and simplicity. It requires refined judgment to craft solutions that feel effortless for solo founders while scaling effectively for Fortune 500 organizations.

  • Minimum Requirements:
    • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a track record of shipping platform or infrastructure products used by other teams.
    • A background in security, identity, authentication, or developer platforms, or a demonstrated strong interest and aptitude in these areas.
    • A consistent practice of engaging with users to identify and address fundamental problems.
    • Technical fluency enabling in-depth discussions with engineers on authorization and authentication design.
    • A proactive approach favoring experimentation and iterative development over large, infrequent launches.
    • Comfort and capability in setting strategic direction within a rapidly evolving and undefined domain, often requiring influence across multiple teams.

Working Remotely at Stripe

A remote location is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from any Stripe office. While you are welcome to utilize office spaces for meetings, team events, and on-sites, the expectation is that you will primarily work from home. Stripe does not cover relocation costs for remote positions. We encourage you to apply for roles that align with your current or intended place of residence.

Pay and Benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $162,400 to $243,600. For sales-focused roles, this range represents On-Target Earnings (OTE), including target commissions/bonuses and base salary. This salary range may encompass multiple career levels and will be refined during the interview process based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants outside the US can inquire about the salary range for their specific location during the interview process. Additional benefits may include equity, company bonuses or sales commissions, a 401(k) plan, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, and wellness stipends.

At Stripe, we value passion, grit, and integrity.
