Job Overview

  • Assist with accounting for the divisions: This includes preparing financial statements, performing financial statement analysis, maintaining the general ledger, and conducting account reconciliations.
  • Oversee inventory cost accounting: Manage the cost accounting for inventory (logs & lumber) at all stages of production, from raw material purchasing to finished product shipment. This includes performing monthly and year-end inventory counts.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting: Responsible for the accounting of fixed assets and reconciling fixed asset accounts.
  • Monthly and year-end close: Execute the monthly and year-end closing processes for the division, including the preparation of all necessary audit and tax schedules.
  • Participate in staff management: Involved in hiring, training, mentoring, and managing office staff.
  • Ensure internal controls: Guarantee that appropriate internal control measures are followed to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Provide financial analysis: Conduct financial analysis as needed for special projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage multiple projects: Effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Identify improvement opportunities: Recognize opportunities for improvement and be assertive in implementing necessary changes.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 2 years’ progressive work experience in accounting.
  • Preference for experience in manufacturing environments, with a focus on inventory/cost accounting.
  • Significant experience with general ledger functions.
  • Prior experience with Project Cost Accounting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with significant experience in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve problems.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Understanding of discretion with confidential Company information.
