Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead Stripe’s end-to-end India tax agenda and provide clear advice on material India tax matters.
  • Manage India tax controversy, including risk assessment, audit/litigation strategy, and dispute resolution.
  • Identify emerging India tax risks and opportunities, communicating recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain robust India tax controls, documentation, and processes.
  • Advise on India aspects of new products, commercial arrangements, and operating-model changes.
  • Monitor and interpret legislative, regulatory, and administrative developments in India.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, tax authorities, industry bodies, and external advisers.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 12+ years of relevant India tax experience in a Big 4 firm, law firm, and/or multinational organization.
  • Professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant, lawyer or equivalent.
  • Significant hands-on experience leading India tax audits, assessments, appeals, or litigation.
  • Broad working knowledge of Indian direct and indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and withholding tax.
  • Strong judgment and ability to translate complex tax issues into clear recommendations.
