Role Overview: Partner Development Manager, Financial Partnership Capabilities
As a Partner Development Manager on the Capabilities team, you will be responsible for defining and executing sophisticated product partnership strategies with Stripe’s key card network partners. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams such as Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Treasury, as well as senior external stakeholders. You will be tasked with developing partner requirements, defining deal strategies, leading intricate negotiations, and ensuring alignment across multiple teams and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute product partnership strategies and joint initiatives with Stripe’s most critical card network partners, focusing on new offerings that deliver substantial value to Stripe users.
- Identify, evaluate, and champion high-impact partnership opportunities, drawing upon industry expertise, partner insights, and cross-functional input.
- Develop comprehensive commercial models, partnership approaches, and distribution plans for new product capabilities and go-to-market strategies.
- Independently lead complex, high-impact negotiations with card network partners, including commercial agreements that influence Stripe’s payment acceptance costs and long-term strategic positioning.
- Create scalable deal structures and partnership frameworks that can be effectively applied across various partners, products, or markets.
- Influence internal product and go-to-market teams, as well as external partner stakeholders, to co-create solutions that meet the evolving needs of Stripe, its users, and the dynamic payments landscape.
- Lead and manage cross-functional workstreams involving Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Treasury. Provide clear direction, facilitate trade-off discussions, and ensure stakeholder alignment on necessary resources and commitments for execution.
- Proactively resolve complex stakeholder friction with minimal supervision, addressing competing product priorities, partner requirements, commercial considerations, and delivery timelines.
- Assess the readiness of Stripe and its partners for major initiatives, identify and surface potential risks and dependencies, and advocate for the decisions required to advance projects.
- Ensure the sound execution of day-to-day partnership operations and strict adherence to risk and compliance obligations.
- Represent Stripe at partner and industry events, cultivating and building trusted relationships with senior partner stakeholders.
