Job Overview

Parexel is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our Functional Service Provider (FSP) division as a Scientist III – Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) and Analytical Support. This is a full-time position on a long-term assignment onsite at one of our premier pharmaceutical clients located in West Point, PA. In this role, you will be an integral part of the CMC Operations group, contributing directly to the development and delivery of life-changing therapies, particularly in the vaccines analytical support domain.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Open Access and Instrument Support: Act as the primary responder for end-user repair calls regarding Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) systems. You will troubleshoot and repair routine issues such as leaks, clogs, and pressure fluctuations to minimize instrument downtime.
  • System Suitability and Performance: Regularly check instrument performance, run calibration standards, and ensure system suitability before critical analytical runs.
  • Service Coordination: For highly complex hardware or software failures, you will submit and coordinate repair tickets with external vendors (such as Waters, Sciex, or Agilent) and oversee the maintenance process.
  • Vaccines Analytical Support: Perform sample preparation for routine analysis, including total protein determination, enzymatic digests, and electrophoresis.
  • Advanced Chromatography: Execute Liquid Chromatography (LC) and LC-MS analysis of vaccine samples to support product characterization and stability studies.
  • Biophysical Testing: Conduct biophysical sample testing, including particle size analysis and thermal stability testing, to evaluate vaccine formulations.
  • General Laboratory Maintenance: Provide general lab support, including organizing pipette calibrations, ordering laboratory supplies, managing chemical inventories, and coordinating shipping logistics.

Why Join Parexel FSP?

  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Enjoy full medical, dental, and vision benefits, sick time, a robust 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays, and generous paid time off (PTO).
  • Long-Term Stability: Work on a stable, long-term client-onsite assignment with a leading global pharmaceutical company.
  • Professional Growth: Gain exposure to both clinical research organization (CRO) and sponsor-side operations, accelerating your career in analytical chemistry and biopharma development.
  • Inclusive Culture: Be part of a diverse, global community that prioritizes patient safety, employee well-being, and professional development.

The FSP Model and Your Impact

Under the Functional Service Provider (FSP) model, you are deployed as an experienced colleague directly within our client’s operational framework. This unique structure allows you to benefit from the resources, training, and culture of Parexel while gaining invaluable, hands-on experience with a leading pharmaceutical sponsor’s pipeline and state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure. Your daily contributions in LC-MS troubleshooting and vaccines analytical support directly impact the timeline of clinical trials and the safety of experimental vaccines before they reach patients globally.

Analytical Excellence in Vaccine Development

Vaccine characterization requires rigorous analytical precision. As a Scientist III, your expertise in reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and mass spectrometry will be critical in analyzing complex biomolecules. By maintaining instrument uptime and executing precise sample preparations, you ensure that the analytical data driving key development decisions is of the highest quality. This role demands a meticulous approach to documentation, compliance with laboratory safety standards, and a proactive mindset toward instrument maintenance.
