The Difference You Will Make
As a Supervisor, Aircover, you will be directly responsible for the performance of your assigned team of specialists. Your role involves driving efficiency and quality in collaboration with peers and cross-functional stakeholders to meet the objectives set by the Global Service Manager. You will play a crucial role in the coaching and development of your team members, translating functional strategies into measurable goals for their day-to-day work. The Claims Team Lead will also work closely with departments such as Legal, Communications, Public Policy, and Public Affairs to inform policies, programs, and systems that enhance the department’s performance and support the Airbnb community.
A Typical Day
- Manage the day-to-day operations of your team, focusing on key performance indicators (KPIs) at both team and individual levels (productivity, quality, operational health) while maintaining a high level of team support and well-being.
- Oversee Volume/SLA management and support your team in handling urgent escalated cases.
- Coordinate team scheduling, approve shifts, and conduct team and one-to-one meetings, collaborating effectively with other team leads.
- Handle escalated and complex investigations, urgent escalations, property damage claims, and personal safety concerns or other crisis management situations.
- Potentially engage in project management, including developing project management capabilities within your team, and conduct light data analysis.
- Foster employee happiness by acting as a human leader, building team connections, clearly communicating direction and goals, and providing regular performance feedback that supports positive career growth.
- Develop and refine a thorough understanding of all workflows, and train and coach your team to ensure adherence to high standards of quality and performance.
- Critically evaluate policies and procedures, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Analyze top user issues and other quality or customer insight data, supporting your team in making data-driven recommendations to improve our product, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as a Point of Contact for urgent or sensitive cases, dedicating time each week to refine subject matter expertise.
- Drive your team to meet and exceed metric expectations, understanding how to leverage the team to improve outcomes and taking proactive steps to achieve goals.
- Balance and prioritize tasks based on seasonality, customer needs, and team requirements.
- Lead and/or participate in projects outside your department’s immediate scope as assigned by your manager.
Your Expertise
- 7 years of overall professional experience.
- 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role, focused on leading, inspiring, and motivating others to meet functional, team, and individual development goals and metrics.
- Experience in a leadership role working directly with customers, especially in situations where the safety and security of their properties were at risk.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to interpret data, articulate wins, risks, and challenges effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; presentation skills are a bonus.
- Proven ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality while performing investigations.
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments and embracing challenges.
- Understanding of ‘Third Party Administrators/Adjusters’ concepts is a plus.
- Language proficiency in English.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Insurance/Liability Claims is preferred.
- Solid understanding of claims processes.
- Demonstrated people management skills.
