The Difference You Will Make: Supervisor, Fraud Investigations
As the Supervisor of the Fraud Investigations Team, you will be instrumental in safeguarding the integrity of the AirCover platform. Your leadership will be key in identifying, investigating, and mitigating instances of fraudulent Aircover claims. You will lead a team of talented fraud investigators, overseeing the entire fraud investigation process from start to finish. This includes proactively searching for patterns indicative of syndicated bad actors, mitigating those risks, and collaborating closely with various internal stakeholders to ensure accurate claim assessments and prevent financial losses. Your team will also be at the forefront of leading investigations and containment efforts for major incidents related to policies enforced by the Aircover Scaled Ops and Optimization team.
You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to manage emerging risks and threats while simultaneously enabling business growth across diverse markets. Our philosophy is to identify intelligence and risk gaps and work closely with other internal risk management teams (such as Trust and Safety), third-party adjusters, our partners, Product Management, Global Crisis Management, Community Support, Policy, and Privacy Legal teams to continuously strengthen Airbnb’s platform. You will adapt your function to align with Aircover Scaled Operation and Optimization priorities, owning planning and strategy while also setting clear targets for your team. You will be responsible for presenting findings at Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Business Reviews. Crucially, you will build, foster, and support your team, holding each member accountable to high expectations and performance standards.
A Typical Day in the Role
- Manage a team of Fraud Investigators with care and empathy, challenging them to meet and exceed expectations in terms of service delivery and quality.
- Take ownership for the team’s overall quality, accuracy, and metrics performance, while holding individual team members accountable to their goals through close monitoring of results, setting clear expectations, providing regular follow-up, and tailored coaching.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to manage emerging Aircover-related risks and threats, ensuring business growth and maintaining a positive customer experience across various markets.
- Proactively identify and implement new capabilities to help collect, analyze, and disseminate actionable risk intelligence.
- Develop the knowledge base and expertise of the Fraud Investigation team through continuous learning and training initiatives.
- Oversee team performance, manage communication with internal partners, and provide guidance on specific complex fraud investigations.
- Develop and implement effective strategies to detect and prevent fraudulent Aircover claims.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including other Aircover Ops teams, Legal, Trust, and CS Safety, to share fraud-related insights, improve fraud prevention measures, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies indicative of fraudulent activities.
- Work with internal stakeholders to develop and deliver training programs to enhance fraud awareness among staff and promote a culture of fraud prevention throughout the organization.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and present findings to senior management, highlighting key fraud-related metrics, trends, and recommendations for process improvements.
Your Expertise and Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the risk management space, preferably within high-tech and/or matrixed global organizations.
- 2+ years of experience in a people manager role, with a proven track record of leading, recruiting, and coaching high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated abilities and experience in fast-paced fraud investigations, ideally within the fintech or insurance sectors.
- Thorough knowledge of fraud investigation techniques, intelligence tradecraft, systems, processes, and governance.
- Strong skills in metrics-based performance management and coaching.
- Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts independently, collaboratively, or through delegation, including handling challenging customer conversations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences.
- Skilled in presenting complex and sensitive customer issues and making clear, concise recommendations on the course of action.
- An excellent track record of leading with empathy and inspiring teams to achieve exceptional results in performance and quality.

Work Schedule and Environment
A regular work schedule of 5 days per week (40 hours) is expected, mutually agreed upon with your Manager. This may include weekend days and company-wide/public holidays, operating within a 24*7 rotational shifts environment. The ability to work effectively in a global, fluid environment while possessing an intense focus on executing at a high quality to completion is essential.

How We’ll Take Care of You
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range shown is annualized, inclusive of allowances, and subject to change. This role may also be eligible for bonus or incentives, one or more equity programs, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
