About the Role

The British Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Operations and IT Administrator to join their team in Bahrain. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the office by managing both the IT infrastructure and a wide range of administrative and logistical functions. The position offers a monthly gross salary of BHD 540 and falls under Pay Band 4. The application deadline is 23rd June 2026.

Key Responsibilities

The Business Operations and IT Administrator will be responsible for a diverse set of duties, including:

  • IT Infrastructure Management:
    • Manage and maintain all ICT infrastructure, encompassing hardware, software, GTI and NON GTI LAN, WLAN, PABX, CCTV, and Access Control systems.
    • Ensure all classroom computers and interactive whiteboards are in good working order.
    • Monitor and manage IT inventories for audit trail purposes.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide comprehensive technical support to IT users on standard software, local site-specific applications, and hardware.
    • Respond to user requests for GTI application or hardware support via the standard Incident Management process.
    • Follow up on tickets raised by staff to the Professional Services – GSD team.
    • Train staff on IT policies and procedures.
  • ICT Procurement and Training:
    • Manage ICT procurement as per business needs.
    • Determine ICT training needs, identify training solutions, and plan the delivery of training programs.
  • System Maintenance and Updates:
    • Rebuild computers, laptops, printers, and other devices as needed.
    • Assist with the implementation of updates, changes, and patches to the country’s IT infrastructure and services, as advised by Professional Services – GSD and D&T.
    • Ensure that all requests for new software are submitted to Professional Services for testing.
  • Administrative and Logistical Support:
    • Handle registrations and issuances for newly appointed staff with GOSI, LMRA, Immigration, and CPR.
    • Renew work visas and ID cards for staff.
    • Process medical checkups for newly appointed staff.
    • Arrange visit visas for visitors.
    • Liaise with the local Municipality to resolve issues related to expatriate staff.
    • Manage office car maintenance, insurance, and monitor its use, maintaining accurate records.
    • Collect office mail from the post office at least twice a week.
    • Perform collections, deliveries, and purchases promptly and to the satisfaction of internal stakeholders.
    • Provide driving services for the director and heads of departments for external meetings.
    • Offer logistical support for the organization and delivery of internal and external activities/events.
    • Support in the maintenance of stationery and equipment inventories.
  • Team Support:
    • Support the Business Operations Team in administrative tasks.
    • Assist the Business Operation in Finance tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role with a proven track record in general office administration.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural organization in an international context.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with employees and management to achieve the delivery of high-quality professional services.
  • Ability to develop and manage a range of internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong administrative experience with the ability to interpret and follow organizational policy and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of updates, changes, and patches to the countries IT infrastructure and services as advised by Professional Services – GSD and D&T.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of problems relating to business applications.
  • Respond to user requests for GTI application or hardware support, and process these requests via the standard Incident management process.
  • Ensure that all requests for new software are submitted to Professional Services for testing.
  • Support exams and other departments for IT needs outside the office.
  • Support in handling work for the British Council in the Ministries and authorities.
  • Handle registrations and issuances for newly appointed staff with GOSI, LMRA, Immigration and CPR.
