Your New Role: Corporate Accountant
As a Corporate Accountant, you will play a vital role in managing the financial operations of the company. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconciliations: Complete bank and corporate credit card reconciliations. Investigate variances, ensure accurate coding and documentation, and promptly correct any errors.
- AP/AR Management: Review accounts payable and accounts receivable processed by administrative staff. Process vendor payments, reconcile billings to project budgets, and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Project Accounting Support: Communicate with project managers to confirm project forecasts, ensuring timely progress and accurate invoicing.
- Query Resolution: Resolve accounting questions and discrepancies with internal teams and external parties as required.
- Tax and Remittances: Prepare and file Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns and payroll remittances. Coordinate corporate tax support with external accountants and assist with year-end review engagements.
- Month-End Close: Execute month-end closing procedures, including managing checklists, preparing accruals, and performing account reconciliations.
- Financial Analysis & Support: Support budgeting, cash flow tracking, forecasts, and variance analysis. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and assist the Finance team as requested.
- Process Improvement: Improve and document accounting processes. Support the implementation of new accounting tools and software.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Education: Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Professional Development: Enrolled in the CPA program.
- Experience: 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably supporting a senior team.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical ability and proven experience with troubleshooting and data analysis.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and possess a keen attention to detail.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with a project-based accounting software system such as Deltec or Sage 300 is considered an asset. Project accounting experience is highly valued.
