IBPS PO 2026 Syllabus Overview
To clear the IBPS PO exam, candidates must have a comprehensive understanding of the syllabus for both the Preliminary and Main examinations. The Preliminary exam focuses on foundational skills in English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. The Main exam elevates the difficulty level, introducing specialized sections like Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, and Computer Aptitude, along with a descriptive writing test.
Exam Pattern & Sectional Strategy
The Preliminary exam is a speed-based test of 60 minutes with sectional timings of 20 minutes each. Accuracy is paramount due to the 0.25 negative marking. For the Main exam, candidates must transition from speed to deep conceptual clarity. The descriptive test requires candidates to write an essay and a letter on a computer, testing their typing speed and grammatical coherence.
Top Preparation Tips for IBPS PO 2026
- Master the Basics: Focus on core mathematical concepts like percentage, ratio, and average, which form the base of Data Interpretation. For reasoning, practice puzzles and seating arrangements daily.
- Stay Updated with Current Affairs: The General Awareness section in the Mains exam is a major score booster. Read financial newspapers and follow banking awareness modules regularly for the last 6 months of current affairs.
- Take Regular Mock Tests: Mock tests are crucial to understand the actual exam environment, manage sectional time limits, and identify weak areas. Analyze every mock test thoroughly to improve performance.
- Improve Typing Speed: Since the descriptive test is online, practice typing essays and formal/informal letters on a keyboard to ensure you complete the section within the 30-minute limit.
