Key Objectives and Purpose
The primary purpose of the Clinical Catering Assistant is to manage the distribution of food and beverages to clinical trial participants and maintain the catering area in strict accordance with study protocols. In clinical trials, nutrition, meal timing, and ingredient control are critical variables that can directly impact scientific data. Therefore, this role requires high precision, strict adherence to guidelines, and meticulous documentation.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Participant Meal Service: Distribute meals and beverages to trial volunteers, ensuring that the correct ingredients and macro-nutrients are served according to individual study protocols.
- Protocol Adherence: Strictly follow study protocols regarding meal timings, documenting exact start and stop times of food and beverage consumption.
- Data Documentation: Record beverage distribution times and volumes provided to volunteers as per source data agreements.
- Measurement & Estimation: Weigh food portions before and after mealtimes and estimate percentage consumption when required by specific study protocols.
- Catering Area Maintenance: Clean, sanitize, and maintain the kitchen, dining areas, and catering equipment (including dishwashers, ovens, and heated trolleys) in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Inventory & Quality Control: Store food and drinks according to storage specifications, monitor expiry dates, and maintain stock levels in both participant and staff kitchen areas.
- Collaboration: Coordinate food orders with external caterers and work closely with the study team and dieticians to ensure menus meet nutritional requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Distribute food and beverages to clinical trial participants according to study protocol and internal requirements.
- Coordinate and order food from the caterer for volunteers in cooperation with the study team.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience in restaurant, canteen work, or equivalent catering environment.
- A secondary school qualification or equivalent.
- Ability to work in shifts (early, late) including weekends and holidays.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office/Windows).
- Strong commitment to health and safety standards in a clinical kitchen environment.
