About the Role
Reboot Monkey is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join our team in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level professional to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and critical IT environment. As a Data Center Technician, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our state-of-the-art data center facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the physical integrity and operational readiness of the infrastructure, supporting both routine tasks and emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Remote Hands & Smart Hands Support: Provide essential on-site support for remote IT teams, including tasks such as power cycling servers, performing hardware swaps, managing cabling infrastructure, and executing diagnostic procedures as instructed.
- Server Rack Management: Install, configure, and decommission server racks, ensuring proper mounting, cabling, and power connections according to industry best practices and company standards.
- Network Infrastructure: Manage and maintain network connectivity by handling cross-connects, patching panels, and ensuring the integrity of the structured cabling system.
- Hardware Troubleshooting: Perform initial troubleshooting and diagnostics on server hardware, network equipment, and other data center components to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Physical Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular visual inspections of data center equipment and facilities. Maintain accurate inventory records of all hardware and assets within the data center.
- Access Coordination: Escort and coordinate access for client visits, vendors, and other authorized personnel entering the data center premises, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Emergency Response: Be available for emergency response and on-call duties as required, ensuring rapid resolution of critical issues that may arise outside of standard working hours.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation of all tasks performed, including troubleshooting steps, hardware changes, and inventory updates.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Prior hands-on experience with data center infrastructure, IT hardware, or related fields is highly desirable. Experience at major data center providers (e.g., Equinix, Digital Realty, NTT, CyrusOne) is a plus.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of server hardware, networking concepts, and structured cabling standards (fiber optics, Cat6, DAC).
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, CDCP, or CCNA are advantageous.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes of technical issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 25kg or more.
- Reliability: Must possess reliable transportation and be located in proximity to local data centers.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate urgent requests and on-call duties.
