About the Role: Software Engineer – Compute Marketplace

Scaleway is looking for a talented and versatile Software Engineer to join our Compute Marketplace team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing, developing, and maintaining the platform that allows users and external publishers to deploy applications and operating systems seamlessly on Scaleway’s cloud infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer in the Compute Marketplace team, your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing robust, scalable, and secure features for the Marketplace platform.
  • Maintaining and optimizing high-performance APIs to ensure an exceptional and seamless user experience.
  • Creating, maintaining, and improving tooling for OS image creation and system packaging.
  • Managing and packaging application artifacts within OS images to ensure they are ready for deployment.
  • Automating the entire manufacturing and distribution process of OS images and containerized applications.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to external publishers, helping them package and integrate their own software into the Scaleway Marketplace.
  • Implementing rigorous security practices, including CI/CD integration and automated vulnerability scanning, to guarantee the integrity of all Marketplace artifacts.
  • Collaborating with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to align technical implementations with product roadmaps.
  • Exploring and structuring ‘unexplored’ technical territories to foster continuous innovation within the team.

Required Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Professional Experience: 5 to 10 years of proven experience in software engineering, DevOps, or Linux system administration.
  • Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) or Python, with a track record of building reliable APIs and automation tools.
  • Infrastructure & Tooling: Hands-on experience with HashiCorp Packer and a solid understanding of OS image maintenance and configuration.
  • System Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of Linux system administration, shell scripting, and system-level configurations.
  • Modern Tech Stack: Practical experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
