Preparation Strategy

Syllabus Overview

The Delhi Police Constable syllabus is designed to test the general awareness, logical reasoning, mathematical ability, and basic computer literacy of the candidates. The General Knowledge section carries the highest weightage (50%), focusing heavily on current affairs, Indian history, geography, constitution, and general science. Reasoning tests analytical abilities, while Numerical Ability covers basic arithmetic. The Computer section evaluates knowledge of MS Office, internet protocols, and basic web browsing.

Exam Pattern Analysis

The Computer-Based Examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions to be solved within 90 minutes. With a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer, accuracy is as important as speed. Candidates must practice mock tests regularly to manage their time effectively and avoid negative marks. Scoring high in the CBE is crucial because the final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in this phase, provided the candidate clears the physical standards.

Physical Endurance Test (PET) Preparation Tips

The Physical Endurance Test is qualifying in nature but highly demanding. For male candidates under 30 years, running 1600 meters in 6 minutes requires consistent cardiovascular training. Long jump (14 feet) and high jump (3 feet 9 inches) require leg strength and proper technique. Female candidates under 30 years must complete the 1600-meter run in 8 minutes, along with a 10-foot long jump and 3-foot high jump. Aspirants should start physical training at least 2-3 months before the scheduled test date, focusing on stamina, agility, and core strength.

Physical Measurement Test (PMT) Standards

Candidates must meet the minimum physical measurements to avoid disqualification. For male candidates, the minimum height required is 170 cm (with relaxations for hill areas and ST candidates), and the chest must be 81 cm with a minimum expansion of 4 cm. For female candidates, the minimum height required is 157 cm (with relaxations for hill areas, SC/ST candidates, and daughters of Delhi Police personnel). Ensure you check your measurements beforehand to align with the official standards.

General Preparation Strategy

To crack the Delhi Police Constable exam, candidates should adopt a balanced approach between written exam preparation and physical conditioning. Dedicate 4-5 hours daily to studying core subjects, prioritizing General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Solve previous years’ question papers to understand the trend of questions. Simultaneously, maintain a healthy diet and spend 1-2 hours daily on physical exercises, running, and stretching to keep your body in peak condition for the physical trials.
