- The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially announced the Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA) / Upper Division Clerk (UDC) Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination, 2025.
- This recruitment drive aims to fill 65 vacancies in the Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) Cadre under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
- The application process is entirely online, starting on 25 June 2026 and closing on 16 July 2026.
- This is a departmental promotion-based competitive exam, open exclusively to serving Lower Division Clerks (JSA/LDC) of the CSCS cadre.
- Eligible candidates must have completed at least 5 years of approved and continuous service in the LDC grade as of 1 August 2025.
- Candidates who were appointed to the LDC grade through a competitive exam must have at least 4 years of continuous service.
- Passing the typewriting test held by UPSC or SSC is mandatory for confirmation, unless the candidate is formally exempted.
- The selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-4 with a salary scale of Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month.
- The selection process consists of a Computer Based Examination (Part-I) and an Evaluation of Record of Service (Part-II).
- The Computer Based Examination is scheduled tentatively for August 2026 and will be conducted in Delhi-NCR only.
- Hard copies of the submitted online application must be forwarded through the Head of Department to reach SSC Northern Region by 23 July 2026.
- Category-wise vacancy details (UR, SC, ST, PwBD) will be communicated by the Service/Cadre Controlling Authority in due course.

Selection & Exam Process
Stage 1: Computer Based Examination (Part-I)
- Consists of 200 objective-type multiple-choice questions.
- Total marks: 200.
- Negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
- Minimum qualifying marks will be determined by the Commission.
Stage 2: Evaluation of Record of Service (Part-II)
- Worth 100 marks.
- Evaluates the Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) of qualified candidates.
Stage 3: Final Merit List
- Prepared based on the aggregate marks of Part-I (CBE) and Part-II (APAR evaluation) out of 300 marks.

- Complete the One Time Registration (OTR) on the new portal if you haven’t already done so.
- Log in using your newly generated Registration Number and password.
