Our core mission is to expand the global economy’s reach, presenting an unparalleled opportunity for you to contribute significantly to the world economy while undertaking the most impactful work of your career.

About the Team

Built on the principle of simplicity, Stripe is dedicated to delivering seamless user experiences for all our customers, whether they are Independent Businesses, Startups, SMBs, or Enterprises. Our goal is to provide the best possible support experience. Currently, Stripe handles over a million support cases annually and processes millions of internal transactions. We aim for excellence by approaching support in an innovative, solution-oriented manner, viewing operations as a fundamental enabler of Stripe’s growth.

Stripe is launching Stripe Delivery Centers, a new global team tasked with designing, implementing, and scaling Stripe’s operations for the coming decade. We are actively seeking dynamic and curious individuals passionate about solving global user issues, building robust operations, driving process improvements, and playing a frontline role in establishing this new operational capability for Stripe, thereby accelerating its growth. If you thrive on challenging, large-scale problems and are an exceptional teammate, we encourage you to apply.

What You’ll Do

The Credit Risk Operations team is pivotal in ensuring a healthy financial ecosystem for businesses globally. This team directly influences the company’s profitability and growth potential by supporting new and emerging businesses. The Credit Operations team is responsible for conducting credit risk assessments, underwriting small to mid-sized users, and proposing mitigation strategies that enable Stripe to make informed, calculated risks for its users.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with merchants, ranging from successful venture-backed startups to well-established institutions, evaluating their business models and financial statements.
  • Contribute to managing Stripe’s portfolio by developing a profound understanding of risks across diverse industries, geographies, and operating models.
  • Identify the distinct risks associated with complex business models and enforce appropriate loss mitigation actions based on your assessments.
  • Leverage analytics to optimize strategies that can be applied across Stripe’s entire portfolio.
  • Identify emerging risk factors and trends, and report these insights to the wider risk team to ensure consistency and alignment.
  • Identify gaps in current systems, policies, and strategies, and propose enhancements and process improvements.
  • Gain exposure to Stripe’s operational framework from the ground up and make a tangible impact on the organization’s future.
  • Be an integral part of building a brand-new team and shaping Stripe’s operational culture.
  • Collaborate with global operations specialists or business process owners to execute critical workflows efficiently.

Who You Are

We are looking for individuals who meet the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these criteria, we strongly encourage you to apply. The preferred qualifications are considered a bonus, not a strict requirement.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience encompassing commercial credit underwriting, financial risk modeling, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Demonstrated ability to transform business and financial data into a clear, cohesive narrative that effectively outlines potential credit risks.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles and proficiency in evaluating financial statements and business models across a variety of industries.
  • Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A process-oriented mindset coupled with a proven ability to execute and deliver results.
  • Enjoys working in an in-office environment that fosters strong cross-team collaboration and mutual support.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Demonstrates humility and possesses a proven track record of successful collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Willingness to work (no more than) one weekend day per month. You will receive a weekday off in the following week. The SDC operates during standard daytime hours, with shifts ranging from morning to early evening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Finance or Accounting.
  • Prior experience in the payments, e-commerce, or fintech sectors, particularly in mitigating credit risk.

In-Office Expectations

For most of our locations, Stripes assigned to office-based roles are currently expected to spend at least 50% of their time within a given month at their local office or engaging with users. This expectation may vary based on the specific role, team, and location. For instance, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles located in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland are required to work 100% from the office. Additionally, certain teams may have higher in-office attendance requirements to adequately support our users and workflows; your hiring manager will provide details on this. This balanced approach aims to foster in-person collaboration and learning while maintaining flexibility where feasible.

Pay and Benefits

Stripe is committed to pay transparency and is actively working towards providing pay ranges in job postings globally. We value open communication regarding compensation.

We eagerly anticipate your application.

At Stripe, we seek individuals driven by passion, resilience, and integrity. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every detail in the job description. Your unique skills and passion will be recognized and valued, especially if your career path has included extraordinary experiences. Stripe embraces diverse perspectives and welcomes individuals who think critically and are unafraid to challenge established assumptions. Join us and be part of our journey.
