Job Overview

Who We Are

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform built for businesses. Millions of companies worldwide, from the largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups, rely on Stripe to accept payments, increase revenue, and unlock new business opportunities. Our core mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, presenting an unparalleled opportunity for you to contribute to the global economy while undertaking some of the most impactful work of your career.

About Our Organization: Developer Experience & Product Platform (DEeP)

The Developer Experience & Product Platform (DEeP) organization is dedicated to equipping all of Stripe’s products with a shared platform. This platform delivers high-quality, consistent, cross-product experiences across our user interface (UI) and Application Programming Interface (API) surfaces. DEeP’s primary focus is on providing a scalable developer experience that any developer can leverage to accelerate a customer’s ability to derive value from Stripe.

The Extensibility Program

Within DEeP, the Extensibility program is a key initiative for expanding Stripe’s total addressable market and enhancing customer retention. Extensibility transforms Stripe into a programmable platform, enabling customers and internal product teams to adapt Stripe to their unique needs on a common foundation. Stripe’s extensibility is built upon three interconnected primitives:

  • Scripts: This feature provides a secure, isolated TypeScript runtime environment, allowing merchants and developers to customize Stripe product behavior. Examples include customizing discount calculations, invoice logic, and proration rules.
  • Custom Objects: These are user-defined data models that allow businesses to manage their specific data within Stripe. Examples include Shipments, Locations, Warranties, and Entitlements, all supported by first-class APIs, SDKs, and Dashboard experiences.
  • Workflows: This is a programmable orchestration layer (currently graduating to General Availability at Sessions) that enables both no-code and pro-code business logic across Stripe. It supports custom actions, delays, smart retries, and integrations with third-party services.

These three primitives are deeply interdependent, involve collaboration with over 10 cross-functional teams, and culminate in major product launches.

What You’ll Do

We are seeking a product-focused Technical Program Manager to spearhead the Extensibility program across the Workflows, Custom Objects, and Scripts workstreams. This is a newly created, high-impact role situated at the intersection of platform engineering, product management, and cross-organizational program ownership. In this capacity, you will:

  • Own Strategic Programs: Take ownership of one of the most strategically significant programs within DEeP, driving the direction, health, and outcomes of Stripe’s Extensibility platform across Scripts, Custom Objects, and Workflows.
  • Set Program Strategy: Define the program strategy in close partnership with DEeP leadership, ensuring accountability across organizations for the program’s success.
  • Drive Cross-Org Decisions: Facilitate and drive critical decisions across various stakeholders (DRIs) in Script Platform, Custom Objects, Apps, SDK, Observability, DevEx, and Versioning. Actively resolve complex, ambiguous integration and ownership challenges that span team boundaries.
  • Manage Critical Path to Launches: Own the critical path for major product launches. Proactively shape the scope, drive necessary descope decisions, and negotiate trade-offs across teams to ensure launches reflect deliberate strategic choices.
  • Influence Roadmaps: Influence and shape product and engineering roadmaps by bringing a program-level perspective to team planning cycles. Push back constructively when individual team roadmaps misalign with the broader extensibility strategy, and advocate for cross-cutting investments that might not be prioritized by any single team.
  • Support ProServ and Partnerships: Ensure that requirements from Professional Services (ProServ) and Partnerships teams are surfaced into the roadmap with the same level of rigor as product requirements. Act as the bridge between what the platform delivers and what these teams need to successfully close deals and serve complex customers.
